The Dallas County Conservation Board is hosting another special event this weekend.

On Sunday, the group presents a Radical Thoughts in the Tallgrass Prairies: Equal Rights for All lecture. The program will explore the equal rights beliefs and activities of five individuals and their families in Iowa during the Civil Rights era.

The lecture will be presented by Archaeologist Douglas W. Jones of the State Historic Preservation Office.  Jones has served as the archaeological adviser and historical researcher on the Iowa Freedom Trial Train Project, which documents the people, places and events associated with the abolitionist and Underground Railroad activities in Iowa.

The event takes place at the Forest Park Museum this Sunday at 1:30pm.  No registration is required and it’s free and open to the public.
