A Guthrie Center man was taken to the hospital after a two vehicle accident that killed two others this weekend.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 15 year-old Daniel Peter of Ames was driving a 1996 GMC SUV westbound on highway 30 near Noble Hill Place around 3:15pm Saturday.  Peter was changing lanes to make a left hand turn when a 2003 Hummer Limo, driven by 43 year-old John Barker Jr. of Des Moines, came into contact with the SUV – causing it to leave the roadway and roll.  The limo came to rest in the median.

One person was ejected from the vehicle and two of Peter’s passengers, 77 year-old Dorothy Peter and 80 year-old Delbert Peter – both of Boone, were not wearing their seatbelts and were killed in the accident.

28 year-old Danielle Snook of Davenport and 24 year-old Loyd Hise of Guthrie Center were both transported to Mercy Hospital, via Mercy One helicopter, to be treated for injuries.

Snook is currently listed in fair condition, while Hise is in critical condition.

The accident is still under investigation.
