And the heat wave continues… today’s high temperature is expected to hit 98 degrees, with heat index values of 102.

Dave Herrick, Chief Deputy with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office says it’s important to take the necessary precautions when it’s this hot out because it can be very dangerous.

“Wear sunscreen of at least 15 SPF, wear sunglasses, stay in shaded areas when possible and use an umbrella to help shade you” says Herrick.

Herrick says it’s also important to make sure you stay hydrated and replace the fluids you’re losing when you sweat in the heat.

He adds that accidents happen when people rush and over exert themselves so it’s important to take time and relax in between, especially when it’s hot.
