A team of Dallas County elementary school students have been selected to compete in a cooking contest at the Iowa State Fair next month.
In the Cook This 4-H Culinary Challenge, teams of three youth demonstrate their knowledge of various kitchen items and show off their creativity in food preparation.
Caitlyn Ballard, Emily Smith and Raquel Gonzalez of Dallas County were chosen to compete in the junior teams category of 5th and 6th graders. They are one of 10 teams who will compete at the state level.
The junior competition will take place on August 12th in the 4-H exhibits building on the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
