The Perry School Board accepted the low bid from Menz Agri Sales of $143, 684 to install lights at the Perry Athletic Complex for both the softball and baseball diamonds.  Technical Solutions presented their bid of $173, 229 in the only other sealed bid.  The accepted bid from Menz Agri Sales is for the Musco Light Structure Green System which includes 10 Pre cast concrete bases, 10 galvanized steel poles, 54 Factory aimed and assembled luminaries with energy savings of more than 50 percent over a standard lighting system.  Due to receving favorable bids for ongoing district energy efficient projects, the board felt this was a good time to seek lighting bids.  The bids were extremely lower than the estimated project costs.

Due to not having lighted baseball and softball fields, Perry athletes had to start games at 4 pm rather than 6 pm, which put the kids out on the fields around 2:30 to 3:00, typically the warmest time of the day.  The later start times will prevent the kids from playing during the heat of the day and also enable Perry to become a host site for post season tournaments.

Tentative plans are to have the lighting project completed by the end of September.
