The Adel Sweet Corn Festival is coming up this weekend but with the current drought and summer heat wave, some are concerned that sweet corn for the festival will be in short supply.

Fortunately, Adel farmer Ron Deardorff says that’s not the case.  Ron and his wife Becky own Deardorff Sweet Corn, who supplies the thousands of ears that are consumed at the annual festival.

But, Deardorff says sweet corn lovers may want to purchase their corn soon rather than later.  He adds that their season might make it to Labor Day but that will be quite a stretch at this point.
