The first year of Greene County Rams football is underway and the team media day was held on August 8 in Jefferson. Head coach Dean Lansman and his staff have a squad numbering in the middle 50s as students from the Jefferson-Scranton, East Greene, and Paton-Churdan school districts play football together for the first time. Lansman is a graduate of East Greene High School who has been coaching for a decade with the Rams. He enters his second season heading the program based in Jefferson and said, “I couldn’t be happier with the way things are coming together. Our players and coaches are all on one team regardless of where they live. Our numbers are a little down from the past, but we have some good players and we’re looking forward to getting the season underway.”

The Rams open the 2012 season with a non-district action in Jefferson at Linduska Field on August 24 vs. the Perry Blue Jays. The varsity game is set for 7:30 p.m. with a freshman contest starting off the evening at 4:45 p.m.
