Southern Dallas County was well represented in softball this year with both Earlham and Van Meter registering four All State Softball selections.   This year’s 1A state runner-up Earlham placed three on the first team led by pitcher of the year Amber Logemann.  The senior and future Kirkwood Community star went 29-2 with a state best 393 strikeouts.  Catcher Amy Wright and shortstop Abbey Murphy were named to the First Team as well.  Wright was second in the state in all classes with 71 RBI’s.

Van Meter, which finished 5th in Class 2A in its first state appearance earned a first team pick in Aspen Rhodes, who was named Class 2A’s player of the year.

Woodward Granger’s Katelyn Buckalew was also a First-team pick.  She hit 451 with 4 homeruns and 31 RBI’s.

Dallas Center Grimes reached the state championship game for the first time in school history and came away with 3 All State accolades.  Veteran coach Steve Schlafke was named 4A coach of the year.  Sophomore Paige Lowary was named 4A pitcher of the year with a sizzling .39 ERA with 353 strikeouts.  Macey Wolfe was named to the first team while Jackie Peyton was a second team pick.  Wolfe finished with 7 homeruns and 37 RBI’s.
