The 2011 high school volleyball season at Jefferson-Scranton saw the Rams have a winning season for the first time in five years and the team finished with 22 wins among 33 matches. Changes for the 2012 season include players from both J-S and East Greene going to school and playing sports together under the moniker Greene County Rams. The season begins on August 28 in Jefferson with a non-conference match vs. Panorama (Panora) in the middle school gymnasium in Jefferson. Veteran head coach Donna Carhill is assisted by former J-S all-stater and William Penn U. (Oskaloosa) standout Renae (Walker) Baugh, as well as former EG head coach Carly Tiffany-Brown, an East Greene graduate.

Although J-S had some significant personnel losses due to graduation, some key players return, along with some talented newcomers. Blend in players from an EG squad that had no seniors in 2011 and it’s easy to see why the coaching staff is excited about the upcoming season. Coach Carhill reports the preseason has gone well as players have adjusted to each other and in some cases, a new system.
