The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is looking for information from the public in regards to an incident that occurred northwest of Perry late Tuesday.

Sheriff Chad Leonard tells Raccoon Valley Radio, a Dallas County deputy was doing routine patrol at the Perry Auto Salvage when he noticed people run away from the property.  The deputy entered the property and began running toward the group when one person turned around and fired a shot at him.  The bullet missed, and the deputy was not injured.

Sheriff Leonard says he spoke with the owner of the auto salvage who says nothing appears to be missing and he doesn’t know what they were looking for.  However, it sounds like this is not the first time people have trespassed on this property.

Deputies have since been investigating the property looking for clues as to what the individuals may have been doing on the property.
