No rain this week means there is little change to the overall drought conditions.

According to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor, released this week by the National Climatic Data Center, there are still severe drought conditions in the southern half of Dallas County and southeast corner of Guthrie County.  The rest of the Raccoon River Valley, including all of Greene County and the remainder of Dallas and Guthrie Counties are still suffering from an extreme drought.

According to the National Weather Service, Perry has received 2.36 inches of rain so far this month, compared to the normal monthly total of 4 inches.  Jefferson has received 1.87 inches of precipitation – their monthly average is 3.9 inches.  And Guthrie Center usually gets 4.4 inches of rain but so far this month they’ve only seen 1.24 inches.
