An exhibit honoring Iowa’s fallen heroes is now open at the Warren Cultural Center in Greenfield.  The travelling exhibit, “Remembering Our Fallen”, is a somber reminder of the ultimate sacrifice made by the 84 Iowans who lost their lives in The War Against Terror, while wearing this country’s uniform in Afghanistan or Iraq.

The opening ceremonies Wednesday were well attended with an estimated 60+ in attendance.

The exhibit includes several displays which include names, photographs and mementos of the fallen, including a display honoring Lance Corporal C.J. Miller, a Nodaway Valley High School graduate, who lost his life in Iraq in 2006.

Ken Sidey, with the Warren Cultural Center, says visitors will also see a display featuring several canvas paintings by Ray Sorenson, who is well-known and highly recognized by his artwork of the “Freedom Rock”.

In conjunction with the exhibit, Sidey says another display will be set up where people will be able to visit Pearl Harbor veteran Clarence Pfundheller as he recounts his experiences.  The special event will take place August 30 at 7:00 P.M.  There is no cost to attend the presentation, but donations will be accepted.

On Sunday at 2:00 P.M. there will be a 90 minutes performance by Pippa White of “Saints, Soldiers and Spies: Women in War”.  The audience will hear experiences and proof that women in war have never been only on the sidelines.  Tickets are available at Ed & Eva’s store or online at WarrenCulturalCenter.com

The displays will be available for viewing at no charge in the first floor gallery of the Cultural Center.  The exhibit is open Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00am to 5:30pm, Saturday from 10am to 2pm and on Labor Day from 9am to 7pm.
