The first of five regular season road games awaits the Greene County Rams football team on August 31 following a 27-7 season opening loss in Jefferson to the Perry Blue Jays. Coach Dean Lansman is looking for improvement on Friday night at Alleman vs. North Polk (0-2) in the second of three non-district games.

Greene County allowed 278 yards of offense including 233 on the ground vs. Perry. Junior Ben Daniels had scoring runs of six and 60 yards, and he also caught a TD pass of 25 yards. Sophomore quarterback Will Whiton threw the touchdown pass and he also had a run of 15 yards for a touchdown.

The offense for the Rams mustered 202 yards with just 68 on the ground in 30 carries and 134 threw the air. Senior quarterback Tory Beger was 16-36-2 throwing the ball and he scored the only TD for the Rams on a one-yard sneak with 4:16 left in the game. Greene County had scoring chances early, but were held on downs by Perry at the Blue Jays’  21, 23, and 19 yard lines in the first quarter.

North Polk lost on August 17 to CMB (Baxter) 42-35, then fell at Bondurant-Farrar 38-20 on August 24.
