The Perry Cross Country team is enjoying an early week off as they gear up for the Labor Day weekend.  Head Coach Jeff Fox has layed out his plan this year for distance running and what he wants to emphasize during the course of the year.

“5 or 7 miles is as long as we will go during the week.  We will be meeting on the weekend sometimes and going for a long, extended 10 mile run which is more of a team building run that I don’t expect a blazing time, but rather a nice even pace.  We want to have fun and it’s a lot more fun to do those long runs in groups and that is the best way to move that mileage up.”

Perry’s only action so far has been the Gilbert Invitational last week.  Perry returns to action next Tuesday with the Winterset Invitational.  Perry Girls Coach Nathan Khrone ran for the Huskies in high school.
