The cross-country runners from Greene County High School have run in two meets this month and both were under very hot and humid conditions. Coach Kelly Simpson said he is pleased with the performances he’s seen so far, especially when the weather conditions and the early dates are factored in. The Rams ran in Ames on the Iowa State University course on August 23 at the Gilbert Invitational before going to Dallas Center for the Aug. 28 Dallas Center-Grimes meet. In both meets, senior Jacob Simpson led the boys from Greene County and sophomore Allison Higgins led the girls. Coach Simpson reported all the GC runners were faster at the DC-G meet than they were in the opener despite temperatures in the middle 90’s.

The lone home meet for the Rams is on Thursday, Sept. 6 in Jefferson on a course laid out on the high school grounds.
