The Perry cross country team does not have a lot of hills to choose from so when Head Coach Jeff Fox spots an incline he uses it.  Iowa Street by Dallas County Hospital is an attractive spot for him.

“Its a 20 percent incline, its a very steep incline for Perry and most of Perry is pretty flat.  So we will go up and its about 3 to 400 meters to the top.  So we will do repeats up and jog back down and it really works on their leg strength.  It makes so that if they’re running in a meet on a littler hill it won’t be so daunting.  Another thing we might add to the agenda this year is Ledges State Park to get more of a hill feel.”

Perry returns to cross country action Tuesday after the holiday for the Winterset Invitational…which ironically is a pretty hilly course.
