When Greene County and North Polk play a non-district football game tonight (Friday) it will mark the first time since the early 1990’s the teams have met in varsity football. Both are members of the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference, but football is played according to districts and the programs haven’t faced each other since 1991.

The Rams are based in Jefferson and are in their first season as Greene County with players from all three school districts in the county (East Greene, Jefferson-Scranton, Paton-Churdan) playing in the same football program for the first time. This is the first of five regular season road games for the Rams while NP is playing at home in Alleman for the second time in three contests. Both teams are looking for their first victory of the young season.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and the varsity contest can be heard on KGRA 98.9 FM. A freshman contest will be played at 4:45 p.m.
