It was a back and forth game last Friday for the Panorama Panthers as they took on the West Marshall Trojans. The Trojans struck early with a Duncan Ferch 15-yard touchdown run with over 9 minutes left in the first quarter.
The Panthers struck back with a Tyler Hein rushing touchdown less than four minutes later.
West Marshall turned around and scored another quick 7 with 49 seconds left in the 1st quarter thanks to another Ferch run. The Panthers answered back late in the 2nd quarter with a 1-yard Garrett Mleynek quarterback sneak, putting the Panthers down 12-13.Unfortunately, the Trojan offense proved to be too difficult for the Panthers in the second half. The Panthers flared up twice in the second half thanks to a 70-yard touchdown pass to Mason McNeill in the 4th and another Mleynek 15-yard rush in with just over a minute left in the game, making the final score Panthers 26, Trojans 33.
However, even with the defeat, the Panthers should be feeling good overall. They were playing a division up and committed only 9 penalties compared with last week’s 16.
Tyler Hein was a highlight of the game again this week with 12 carries for a total of 53 yards and one touchdown. Mason McNeill had 3 catches for 111 yards and one touchdown. On the other side of the ball, Hein’s name comes up again with 4 solo tackles, 1 sack and 5 assisted tackles. Logan Hupp was also an important name with 6 solo tackles, 1 for a loss, and 4 assisted tackles.
The Panthers will be on the road this week in Council Bluffs playing the St. Albert Falcons.
