Reed Ostrander is still a week away from making his 2012 football debut for the Greene County Rams after suffering a stress fracture in a foot on August 17 in the annual sports drink scrimmage. Ostrander had been in a walking boot since the injury occurred, but he shed the boot on Wednesday and is practicing in light pads the rest of this week. Head coach Dean Lansman expects the 2011 eight-player all-state receiver to begin full workouts next week with a target date of the homecoming game in Jefferson on Sept. 14 vs. Rd Oak for Ostrander to make his season debut.

Ostrander’s injury is one of several the Rams have dealt with in the early going and the head coach is optimistic about the health of the team going forward. The Rams play in Shenandoah on Friday night, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. to begin the Class 2A District 8 schedule. Greene County is 0-2 and the Mustangs are 1-1. The play-by-play can be heard on KGRA 98.9 FM.
