With the high school cross-country season one month old the Greene County High School squads are showing improvement. Coach Kelly Simpson attributes the steady improvement to running a faster first kilometer. The coach said the runners are trusting their ability to remain strong after running faster at the start. He added the last kilometer has been strong for the Rams as well. The girls’ team is coming off a fourth place finish at Roland-Story on Sept. 20. The finish was their best of the season. The boys are generally in the lower half in most meets, but they’ve challenged for the middle of the pack finishes in recent meets. Sophomore Allison Higgins has led the girls’ team all season while senior Jacob Simpson has been the top runner for the Greene County boys.

The Rams run on Sept. 27 at Perry.
