The unbeaten A-D-M High School football team travels to Atlantic this Friday in a District 1, Class 3A showdown. The Tigers are 5-0 overall & 3-0 in district play while Atlantic is 3-2 and 0-2 in the district after losses to Creston & Lewis Central. The game looms as a must win for the host Trojans.

A-D-M will rely heavily on the broad shoulders of senior running back Jordan Grove. Grove leads all of Iowa Class 3A in rushing with 1,098 yards on 115 attempts for a gaudy 9.5 yards per carry. He’s also added 12 rushing TD’s, 6 TD’s via pass receptions & two returns for TD’s, a 90 yard punt return & a pick six. In other words, Mr. Grove means a lot to the Tigers, Atlantic will gear up to try to stop him.

Atlantic is lead by Quarterback Harrison Hoegh who has thrown for 1,251 yards on 127 attempts with 76 completions & a 60% completion percentage. Hoegh’s thrown for 10 TD’s with 9 interceptions, he’s also a duel threat for the Trojans as he’s run for 210 on 39 carries, a 5.4 yards per carry & 4 TD’s. The Trojans will also count on running back Jacob Dvorak who leads the team in rushing with 321 yards on 61 carries & 3 TD’s.

“Atlantic has an athletic QB & receivers, ” said A-D-M Coach Mike Whisner, “They’re similar to what we did last year, throw the ball to set up the run.” “They have a solid line that pass protects well, they lost to two very good teams & were a preseason favorite to win District 1, ” Coach Whisner mentioned.

Tiger QB Kyle Herrick keeps maturing as he tosses three more TD’s in the 43-24 win over Lewis Central. Herrick has now thrown for 918 yards with 9 TD’s. The Tiger defense has stepped up the last two games forcing 7 total turnovers.

“Throw the records out,” Coach Whisner added, “This is a must win for them, we’ll be the underdog even though we’re unbeaten.”
