The Greene County High School cross-country teams ran in Lake City on Oct. 2 at the South Central Calhoun Invitational. The girls were third among 10 teams and the boys finished seventh among 15 squads. Junior Allison Higgins was third in the girls’ four kilometers (2.48 miles) race in 16.50.30 with sophomore Emily Christensen tenth in 17:36.74. Sophomore Eme Johnson was twelfth in 17:44.21. Senior Jacob Simpson, running with a blister on the bottom of a foot, was twelfth in 18:26.10 to lead the Greene County boys.

Prairie Valley (Gowrie) wont he team title for girls with 57 points and Perry was second with 59. Greene County had 81 with Pocahontas Area at 92, Ar-We-Va (Westside) 120, Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) 143, Alta-Aurelia 150, South Central Calhoun 200, Ridge View (Holstein) 222, and Manson-Northwest Webster 232.

The boys team champion was Glenwood with 42 points. Woodward Academy had 87 with SCC at 117, Kuemper Catholic 131, Perry 162, A-A 163, Greene County 170, M-NW 194, RV 206, Ogden 275, East Sac County (Lake View) 277, PV 299, PAC 344, AWV 352, and Sioux Central (Sioux Rapids) 399.
