Alliant Energy has confirmed a gas pipe line break in downtown Jefferson.

Spokesman Justin Foss tells Raccoon Valley Radio 8 businesses and City Hall have been evacuated as a precautionary measure until the leak stops and the police department has shut down part of State Street as well.

Crews are working to repair the leak at this time.  Foss says they expect repairs to be completed later today.

Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
