Paton-Churdan used 33 ace serves to win its Class 1A regional tournament first round volleyball victory in Burnside vs. Southeast Webster-Grand on Oct. 16. Set scores were 25-17, 20-25, 25-16, 25-20, as the Rockets improved to 8-15 on the season in matches and 25-41 in sets. The Eagles ended a winless season at 0-25 in matches and they went 4-60 in sets. Three of the four set wins this season came vs. P-C, the team the Eagles both started and ended the 2012 campaign against.

Kailee Hanlon had 12 ace serves for the Rockets and Sheila Niles added eight aces as the Rockets dominated the serving category. P-C served at a 90.4 percent clip as a team and several times throughout the match the Rockets went on scoring runs mainly due to the ace serves.

Next up for P-C is a match vs. Glidden-Ralston on Oct. 23 scheduled for 7 p.m. in Burnside.
