Among the reasons for Greene County High School’s three-game football winning streak is an offensive line that has improved throughout the course of the season. Offensive line coach Bryce Martin has gone with a six-person rotation as of late for the five interior line positions and it has proven to be effective. A. J. Smith is the only senior among the group and Cody Hidlebaugh is the line junior. Helping to make up one of the youngest offensive fronts the Rams have ever had in more than 110 years of playing high school football are sophomores Daniel Neal, Alex Rasmussen, Alec Schneider, along with freshman Noah Juergensen. The Greene County offense relied heavily on the pass for the first two-thirds of the season, but has run the ball very well as of late, thanks in large part to the guys up front. In addition, senior running back Mitchell Madson has been healthy and most of his 354 rushing yards have been during the last two weeks, which were victories over Clarinda and Clarinda Academy.

Greene County hosts OA-BCIG (Ida Grove) on Friday night at Linduska Field in the regular season finale. The Rams are 4-4 overall and 3-2 in Class 2A District 8 while the Falcons are 5-3, 4-1. A win on Oct. 19 by the Rams would guarantee a playoff berth. Game time is 7 p.m. with coverage starting at 6 p.m. on KG98.
