A pedestrian who was struck by a pickup truck in downtown Perry Tuesday morning has died as a result of the accident.

According to the Department of Public Safety, 26 year-old Jeremiah Devilbiss of Perry was traveling eastbound on Willis Avenue just before 7am.  As he went to turn left on to 1st Street, he did not see the pedestrian crossing the road in the north crosswalk.  The identity of the pedestrian has still not been released, but according to the Perry Police Department the victim is a male in his 50s.  He was transported to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines via Mercy One helicopter, where he died as a result of his injuries.

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash.  Perry Police, Perry Fire and Rescue and Dallas County Ambulance responded to the scene.
