The Greene County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

At the meeting, the board city administrator Mike Palmer gave his monthly update of projects and activities in Jefferson, the Greene County Early Learning Center gave an update on their operation in Jefferson and requested $5,000 from the county for the next fiscal year – no action was taken.

Next, Sandy Scheuerman reviewed the county’s health insurance renewal information – proposing the supervisor’s approve a stop loss coverage of $30,000 and rates for the lower deductible plan which would result in an 8% increase in premiums.  No action was taken.

Engineer Wade Weiss reviewed the proposed paving rehabilitation projects with the board and the county’s bridge inspection report and other projects.  The Supervisors approved a federal aid agreement for the surface transportation program project.

Nick Crouse then spoke on behalf of Crouse Farms inc – Hilltop Pork, asking the board to consider waiving the two week waiting period for his hog expansion project.  Crouse says having to wait may result in additional concrete costs due to it becoming a cold-weather project.  Supervisors Guy Richardson proposed and John Muir seconded a motion to approve a resolution waiving the county’s right to appeal the issuance of the final construction permit.  The motion failed after Richardson was the only board member to vote in favor.

The Supervisors also accepted the treasurer’s investment and driver’s report for October, canvassed the November 6th general election results and approved two nights lodging in Des Moines for Sheriff Tom Heater to attend a conference.
