Progress is moving forward on the Greene County Development Corporation’s business park on the north side of Jefferson.  City Administrator Mike Palmer says there’s a roughly 25 acre patch of land near the intersection of Highways 4 and 30 that the group wants to use to bring businesses to town.  The City has teamed up with the development corporation to develop the property and get business pads set up.

This week, Palmer says the City Council made progress on funding for the project and estimates came in below the engineer’s estimate

There are already businesses interested in coming to town once the park is built.  Cobblestone Inn made a formal presentation at this week’s council meeting about their plans to build a motel, indoor pool and conference center at the site.

Palmer says there has been talk about Cobblestone coming to town for some time now but it was nice to formally hear from the company and their thoughts on funding and timeline.  No formal action was taken.
