Repair to a portion of Interstate 80 in Dallas County has been pushed ahead of scheduled by the Iowa Department of Transportation.

At their meeting this week, the transportation commission approved an amendment to their five year plan that will advance the bid letting of some projects.  The local project is for a portion of I-80 westbound from just west of County Road F-60 to two miles west of Polk County. The project was originally scheduled to take place in 2015 but due to additional funding that was made available after the program was approved in June it will take place this fiscal year.  The funds are the result of favorable construction project bids, the DOT’s budget savings and getting more federal funding than expected.

The 12 projects that were selected were chosen because they can be developed and let for construction yet this fiscal year.
