The Perry Jayette basketball team will start a brand new season tonight when they host the Newton Cardinals in a 6:00 JV/V doubleheader at the Perry Sports Pavillion. Veteran Head Coach Mike Long returns 4 starters off a team that finished 10-11 last year and 8-10 in the Raccoon River Conference. Perry’s top 5 scorer’s are back from a season ago. Senior Frankie Ecklund averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds, while the dynamic sophomore connection of Claire Marburger and Maggie Lowe combined for 24 points and 10 rebounds a game. Senior Becca Minor and junior Julie Dew along with 5-11 sophomore Amy Markres provide the Jayettes with more depth than they have had in the past.
