When the high school basketball postseason rolls around in February, both team from Greene County High School will be in Class 3A. That’s where the similarity ends because the 2012-13 season is the first for five classes of play for girls while the boys stick with the four-class system. What that potentially means for the Rams is that the girls won’t face the likes of Carroll High, Perry, Denison-Schleswig, Boone, Ballard (Huxley), or other larger schools. Greene County is number 21 in enrollment among the 64 schools in girls’ class 3A.

That’s not the case for the boys, where Greene County has the third smallest enrollment among the 64 Class 3A programs. Potentially, the Rams could face Carroll High, Perry, Boone, or any other number of larger programs. The Rams are playing with a B.E.D.S. document number of 292 this school year. Only Center Point-Urbana at 291 and Bondurant-Farrar at 289 have smaller enrollment numbers for boys’ basketball when it comes to the 2013 postseason.

Pairings for both the girls and boys’ postseasons will be released by the governing bodies in January.
