With time running out senior Jennifer Kennedy drove the left side of the lane and made a left-handed layup to lift Greene County to a 46-45 girls’ basketball victory over Roland-Story in Story City on Tuesday night. Kennedy scored the last two of her game-high 25 points with 1.7 seconds remaining and the Rams intercepted the inbounds pass by the Norsemen to seal the win. Greene County is 2-0 to start the season for the first time in recent memory while the Norsemen fell to 1-1 on the season
Roland-Story led by eight points on two occasions in the first half and held a 26-20 halftime lead. The Rams closed the gap to 31-30 at the end of the third quarter and the teams traded leads throughout the final period.
Greene County opens the home portion of the schedule of Friday with PCM (Monroe) at 6 p.m. as part of a girl/boy doubleheader. Both games can be heard on KGRA 98.9 FM.
