We’ve been pretty lucky so far to not have snow and ice covering our yards, roads and sidewalks but it is inevitably coming.
The City of Jefferson did some major renovations to their downtown square this year including replacing sidewalks. Because of this, City Administrator Mike Palmer asks that business and property owners use a non-salt type ice melt on the new sidewalks this winter. Palmer says the new concrete will be sensitive to salt based products which can cause the finish to flake and chip. Sand can be used instead of salt and other ice melt products are available at local merchants.
