A St. Paul, Minnesota man was transported to the hospital after a car accident in Guthrie County Wednesday night.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 35 year-old Benjamin Newton was traveling westbound on Interstate 80 in his 2000 Chevy Blazer around 9:30pm.  He left the roadway and went into the north ditch.  The vehicle spun and came to rest facing east.

Newton was transported to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines via Stuart Rescue.  The extent of his injuries is not known at this time.
