The ADM boys’ will host Carlisle to start off their 2012-2013 Raccoon River Conference action on Tuesday, December 4th.   Head coach Aaron Mayger said that despite coming away with a 0-3 record, that last week’s three games in as many nights schedule may give them some long-term benefits.  Mayger said they learned a lot about their personnel and he said that he liked the effort Thursday at home against Newton and on the road at Pella, but he was not pleased with how the team battled Saturday at the Wells Fargo Arena against Creston.

Going forward Mayger said that one area that the team needs to improve in is rebounding, and while the team may not have the size they have had in years past, Mayger says that that will not be an excuse and they need to position themselves better for rebounding.  Mayger also stated that he is happy with how aggressive the team has been in getting to the foul line but has not been pleased with their performance once there.

Mayger did say that while he would liked for it to have been under better circumstances, he was glad that he got all 16 of his players into the game on Saturday at the Wells Fargo Arena and pointed out that they all work hard in practice and he wanted to get them all an opportunity to play at that venue.

Tonight’s opponent may be a conference foe, but Mayger pointed out that it feels very much like a non-conference game because they are unfamiliar with Carlisle’s head coach Jordan Nelson, who came from a coaching position at Sheffield Chapin Meservey Thornton, as well as his style and philosophies.  Mayger said that regardless of what Carlisle brings, his team needs to be patient and make the opposing team’s defense work more than they have had to thus far.

The game can be heard on 107.9, K-107, following the girls’ game at approximately 7:30 PM.
