Several Jefferson residents are expected to voice their thoughts on the future business park development at the upcoming City Council meeting.

The City Council has awarded a development contract to Sandstone Management for $220,000.  The contractor will develop approximately 21 acres of commercial property on north Highway 4.  The land is owned by the Greene County Development Corporation, who is partnering with the City for the business park project.  Sandstone’s contract with the City is for the first phase of the project including the construction of building pads for future use.

Another item that was on last month’s agenda were three houses scheduled for demolition in early 2013.  Those houses are 105 South Olive, 507 North Cedar and500 North Oak Street all in Jefferson.  The City will also buy one additional property at 202 East Central Avenue before the Neighborhood Stabilization Program ends in March 2013.

Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer said that next week’s regular City Council meeting has been moved to the large meeting area on the second floor of the Jefferson City Hall because it is a more user-friendly environment for both the citizens and council members to discuss agenda items. It’s slated to begin at 5:00pm.
