The ADM girls’ varsity basketball team came away with a win in their first Raccoon River Conference game of the season with a home victory of 70-44 over Carlisle on Tuesday, December 4th.  ADM did it with consistency as they scored 34 in the first half and 36 in the second and their top three scorers all were within a single point of one another.

The Tigers took a 34-20 lead into the locker room at halftime thanks in large part to Abrianna Grapp’s 10 points on 5 field goals, though senior Megan Burditt was close behind with 9 points on 4 field goals.  Burditt ended up with a game-high 15 points off the bench and freshman Mueller and Grapp each ended up with 14 on the night.

Coach Brett Watson was very pleased with the defense his team played however, keeping Carlisle’s top scorers in check; Mary Grace Wachal and Kaleigh Haus came in leading the team with 14.5 and 10.5 points per game respectively, but both girls were held to just 8 and it was actually freshman Cortney Joiner, who sunk two threes in the last minute of play, that ended up leading the Wildcats offensively with 10 points on the night.

Carlisle moves on to host Ballard Friday, December 7th, while ADM also plays next on Friday; they will travel to play Bondurant Farrar, that game can be heard on 107.9 K-107 with a pre-game starting at 5:45, tip-off at 6 PM.
