The Auxiliary of the Greene County Medical Center wrapped up its Holiday of Lights and silent auction on Tuesday.

Carla Offenburger, the medical center’s public relations director, says that it was a total success with the grand total of $3,976 raised.  Last year, the auxiliary raised $3000 and in 2010, the total amount raised was $3300.

Offenburger points out there some interesting trees offered every year and this year was so different.  She says there was an Iowa Hawkeye desktop themed tree that went for $170.  Another one was a Monopoly tree that was made with Monopoly money and had the board as the tree skirt.  But one that has never been seen before was an interactive felt toddler tree.  “They stick on your wall or another piece of fabric and your children could decorate it themselves with these other felt ornaments.  We had two of those and they both went for $35.”

There were 49 items up for auction including trees, wreaths and holiday decorations.  Offenburger joked around saying that now the auxiliary silent auction is over, the front hallway of the hospital will look bare for a while.
