Regardless of if you’re traveling in a car, on foot, on a bike or skateboard, distractions can be fatal.

There have been two vehicle versus pedestrian accidents in Perry in the past several weeks and though there’s no indication that those involved were distracted, it’s important for everyone to remember to stay attentive.  Police Chief Dan Brickner says even the simple things can cause issues such as reaching for a dropped item or changing the channel on the radio.

And distractions are common with those using other modes of transportation too.  Those on bicycles, skateboard and on foot are urged to not use headphones as it blocks one of your crucial senses.

Sharing public spaces with other types of vehicles takes extra care and attention by all involved.  It’s important for everyone to be courteous and cautious.
