While head coach Brett Watson was disappointed his ADM girls’ basketball team suffered a 59-42 loss on Friday, December 7th, one of the things that he was pleased with was that after trailing 31-13 at halftime, the girls didn’t just mail it in.  “We talked at halftime about just ‘a little bit more.’  A little bit more intensity on defense a little bit better on offense, and we did that, we actually outplayed them in the second half, beat them by one,” Watson explained.  “But again you can’t do that when you have a first half that we had.  So the bottom line is we just gotta get better from it, we gotta learn from it, we gotta start the games better… we can’t dig ourselves into a hole.”

With that big of a defeat its hard to find too many silver linings in the game but one of the bright spots was freshman Molly Jacobsen, who created a few turnovers and caused a couple jump balls late in the game, all 6 of her points came in the second half.  We spoke with coach Watson about the play of his freshman forward.  “She came in and gave us the points that we needed.  We really struggled, especially that second quarter, to score.  I think we only had 5 in that quarter, and when she came in there it gave us a little spark, put the ball through the hoop.  I keep telling the girls, ‘When the ball goes through the hoop everything else seems to be a little easier.’  Its easier to play defense, everything else falls into place when you put the ball through the hoop, we gotta do a better job of that.”

The ADM girls’ squad is back at it on Tuesday, December 11th, on the road in Carroll; pre-game begins at 5:45 with the tip-off at 6 PM on 107.9, K-107.
