Freshman Shammond Ivory scored a career high 19 points Tuesday night to lead the Perry Bluejays past Carlisle 53-44. The win was Perry first in conference play. Perry led 15-11 after the 1st quarter and took control of the game early in the second quarter going on a 13-0 run while holding the Cats scoreless for more than 4 1/2 minutes. Perry built as large a lead as 21 in the first half. Carlisle mounted an early charge in the 3rd Quarter cutting it down to six but Ivory hit a 4 point play ending any hopes of a Wildcat comeback.
Perry used an aggressive 2-3 zone defense all night in taking Carlisle out of sync offensively. Perry had four players finish with 8 points including Will Whiton, Zach Roberts, Cavan Finn and Tory Breslford. Roberts came out firing hitting 2 three’s in the opening 4 minutes.
Perry improves to 2-3 and 1-3 in the conference while Carlisle falls to 1-5 and 0-4 in the conference. Perry travels to the Roundhouse this Friday night for a matchup with Ballard. Airtime on KDLS with Shawn Kenney will be 7:45.
