A 34-7 run carried the Greene County girls’ basketball team to a 56-40 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference victory over Nevada on Friday night in Jefferson. The Rams improved to 5-3 on the season and 5-2 in conference games while the Cubs fell to 6-2 and 5-2. Nevada led 12-10 after one quarter and the Cubs were up 20-16 midway through the second quarter before the Rams caught fire. Greene County shot well from both the floor and free throw line while Nevada was cold from both. The Rams went 20 of 37 from the field and 15 of 18 from the foul line while the Cubs were 16 of 61 from the floor and two of 12 on free throw attempts.

Senior Jennifer Kennedy had 23 points for the Rams and sophomore Kayla Mobley added 15 before fouling out with 4:44 remaining to be played. Kati Cassabaum and Amber Ramthun led Nevada with eight points apiece.
