Junior Dylan Forkner at 126 lbs. and senior Aaron Beaman at 220 lbs. won individual titles for the Greene County wrestling team on Saturday at the Jim Kinyon Norsemen Invitational hosted in Story City by Roland-Story. Grinnell won the team title with 202 points, followed by East Marshall/GMGat 188 and 184.5 for the Rams. Gilbert was fourth with 145 points, followed by R-S 133, South Hamilton (Jewell) 113, Prairie Valley (Gowrie) 108, Osage JV 67, and West Marshall (State Center) JV 45.

Forkner, ranked seventh in Class 2A in the Dec. 13 rankings by The Predicament, improved to 16-1 on the season with a fall and a major decision. Beaman is unranked, but won twice by fall and once by major decision to improve to 17-0 on the season.  Beaman and Jose Cruz of R-S both entered the championship match undefeated, but Beaman rolled to an 11-1 major decision.

Three other Greene County wrestlers finished in second place at Story City. Junior Jacob Challen (113) lost by fall in the finals to Parker Witthuhn of R-S. Junior Jeremy Scheuermann lost for the first time in 17 matches when he dropped a 3-2 decision in the championship round to ninth ranked Brody Beck of Grinnell at 145 lbs. Junior Cris Paniagua was second at 182 lbs. after entering the day with a 1-1 record. Paniagua lost by fall in the championship round at 182 to sixth ranked Jay Reisetter of EM/GMG.

Abraham Yoder (120), Jordan Challen (132), Keyden Pollock (152), and Rene Guzman (285) each were third. Daric Whipple (138) was fourth. The Rams entered just 10 of the 14 weight classes and all 10 entries for Greene County placed fourth or higher.
