Perry won both ends of a high school basketball non-conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon against Greene County in Perry. The Class 4A tenth ranked Jayettes rolled to a 58-30 victory while the Blue Jays came out on top 63-53. The Perry girls improved to 7-1 while the boys’ team won for the third time in seven games. The Greene County girls fell to 5-4 and the boys are 2-6 after the loss.

Sophomore Claire Marburger scored 19 points and senior Frankie Eklund added 18 for the Jayettes. Greene County had 12 points from senior Jennifer Kennedy. The Jayettes led 19-4 after one quarter and cruised to the win from there.

In the boys’ game, the Rams jumped out to a 9-0 lead on a trio of Landon Braun three-point goals in the opening 1:58, but the BLue Jays closed to gap to 32-30 at halftime. The teams traded second half leads before the Blue Jays went on a 10-0 run to lead 56-47. Senior Torry Brelsford scored 24 points and freshman Shammond Ivory added 21 for Perry. Both players entered the game averaging 11 points per contest. The Rams were led by Braun’s 15 points and 14 from senior Justin Ostrander. Greene County played without leading scorer and rebounder Reed Ostrander who injured a knee the previous night in a loss vs. undefeated Nevada.

Saturday’s games were heard on both 1310 AM KDLS and 98.9 FM KGRA.
