The varsity girls’ basketball team from Greene County High School is enjoying a season filled with more victories in the first 10 games than all of last season or the one from two years ago. Head coach Chad Morton’s Rams are 6-4 overall are and tied for second place in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference with six wins and just two losses. The Rams were weathered out of a Dec. 20 contest in Alleman vs. first place North Polk. The Comets are ranked ninth in Class 3A by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. The Dec. 20 game is rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 7 in Alleman.

The Rams had just five victories each of the past two seasons, but this year’s team already has surpassed that mark. Senior Jennifer Kennedy is the undisputed team leader. The 5′ 10″ guard averages 16.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. She also leads the team regulars in blocked shots, field goal percentage, and assists.
