School gymnasiums in Jefferson will be busy on Friday morning when the Greene County Rams host a series of scrimmages with a number of teams from a wide area participating. The December 28th event will occupy the middle school, high school, and elementary gyms with scrimmages taking place from 9 am. until noon in all three facilities. Greene County head coach Chad Morton said the Rams will stay in the middle school gym for all of their scrimmaging. The coach added he likes bringing in a number of teams. “I think it helps prepare teams for the second half of the season if they can see different teams and different styles of play in a scrimmage format.” He said a number of players, coaches, and some fans, will be in Jefferson tomorrow for the big event, and he likes having people see the community and what it has to offer in daylight hours and in a non-game situation, which is different than during the regular season when it’s usually dark and teams go directly to the game and then home.

The Greene County boys will practice at noon Friday in the middle school gym after the girls have finished scrimmaging.
