Seven Hills Park in Jefferson is now open for sledding.  Greene County Conservation Director Dan Towers says that the kickoff to the winter season for sledding at Seven Hills was last weekend.

There is an enclosed shelter area by the sledding hill and a fireplace that lit the entire time sledding happens at the park.  Towers comments that in the past, there’s been as many as 150 kids and with as little snow as there was last year, he hopes that kids will get out and enjoy sledding this year.  He points out that all sleds are permitted and they mostly see saucers and plastic sleds, but there are some different materials not allowed on the hill.

“We don’t allow things like carpet and some things that could have sharp edges that somebody could get hurt.”

In order for the sledding hill to remain open on the weekends, there must be at least four inches of snow which Towers says isn’t problem right now.  Seven Hills Park is located two miles southeast of Jefferson and is open from 1:30-4:30 every Saturday and Sunday.
