Tonight is the last performance of Five Course Love at the History Boy Theatre in Jefferson.

Owner and Director Robby Pederson says that the dinner and performance on Saturday was a huge success.  He comments that the reason why they are putting on a show on New Year’s Eve instead of last night is because he wanted to give people something to do during the holiday like tonight.  Pederson heard from other people that they usually don’t have anything to do during New Year’s Eve and so they are putting on their last performance.

An unusual aspect of Five Course Love is the cast size.  It is a three person cast including Robby and Angie Pederson and Nick Lehman from the Paton area.  Pederson says that in romantic musical comedies like Five Course Love, there’s usually a male and female lead with an extra character thrown into the mix.  With five scenes, Nick must also play multiple characters.

“And so for the most part, Nick plays five waiters.  Sometimes he’s in trouble and sometimes he’s narrating; you don’t know what the next one’s going to bring.”

Pederson points out that smaller casts playing several characters is something that’s cutting-edge in today’s theater performances.

“That’s a new trend.  I’m glad that we have some experience getting started with this kind of thing.  Because a lot of theatre is being written right now with multi-roling.”

There are tickets available for tonight’s show.  Call Robby or Angie Pederson at 515-370-4306.
