The first half of the boy’s high school basketball season wasn’t great for the Greene County Rams. Senior guard Dylan Schilling saw his first half hampered by an ankle injury and by shooting woes, but he says the ankle is healed and he’s hoping to shoot the ball better once the Rams resume the 2013 portion of the season. “I shot the ball better last season, so I’m hoping I shoot better in the second half.” The Greene County boys’ are 2-7 overall and 1-6 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference action. The Rams play twice later this week starting with a conference game in Jefferson vs. Saydel (Des Moines) on Jan. 4 in the middle school gym in Jefferson. The two girls’ teams play at 6 p.m. followed by the boys’ game at about 7:30 p.m. The Rams go outside the conference on Jan. 5 when they travel to Gowrie to play the Prairie Valley Warriors. Again, it’s girls at 6 p.m. with the boys’ game to follow. Coverage on KGRA, 98.9 FM, starts at 5:45 p.m. both nights.
