Greene County and Nevada will face off at 6 o’clock tonight in the middle school gym in Jefferson with first place on the line in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference wrestling. The action also involves Woodward-Granger from the West Central Activities Conference. Both the Rams and Cubs are unbeaten in HOIAC dual meets with Nevada at 6-0 and Greene County at 4-0. Overall, the Cubs are 7-8 while the Rams are 13-4. Nevada and W-G wrestle in the second dual meet of the night with the Rams and Hawks in the third and final dual. This is the last time the Rams will wrestle at home this season and it’s also Wally Burger Supper Night and Chuck-A-Duck fund raising night.

Greene County has won 15 straight dual meets in Heart of Iowa Conference wrestling and is the defending dual meet and tournament champion. Head coach Mark Sawhill reported to Raccoon Valley Radio on Wednesday the Rams may not be at full strength with injuries to Dylan Forkner at 126 pounds and Ike Eischeid at 145. Forkner is ranked seventh in Class 2A is is 18-1 on the season while Eischeid has a record of eight wins and three losses. Those two missed last Saturday’s Coon Rapids-Bayard Invitational due to injuries and it remains to be seen if they’ll be in the lineup when the Rams travel to Eldora this Saturday for the South Hardin Invitational.
